        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 13, 1999

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the Department of Transportation and the Turnpike
     2     Commission to support the "Keep your butt in the car"
     3     campaign.

     4     WHEREAS, The "Keep your butt in the car" campaign is designed
     5  to help keep this Commonwealth beautiful by encouraging smokers
     6  not to dispose of their butts by tossing them onto our streets
     7  and highways; and
     8     WHEREAS, The campaign would have a greater impact on the
     9  condition of our streets and highways if it were endorsed and
    10  actively supported by the Department of Transportation and the
    11  Turnpike Commission; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the
    13  Department of Transportation and the Turnpike Commission to
    14  become active supporters of the "Keep your butt in the car"
    15  campaign and cooperate with its sponsors in encouraging smokers

     1  to dispose of their butts in a safer and more sanitary and
     2  environmentally pleasing manner than tossing them onto our
     3  streets and highways.
