        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, MAY 31, 1989

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the Veterans' Administration and Congress to take
     2     action for the establishment of either a National Cemetery or
     3     a State Veterans' Cemetery in Western Pennsylvania.

     4     WHEREAS, The only National Cemetery in Pennsylvania is
     5  located at Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania; and
     6     WHEREAS, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery is 200 miles from
     7  the western section of the Commonwealth, which has the largest
     8  veteran population; and
     9     WHEREAS, There is a definite need for an additional cemetery
    10  for the burial of veterans in the western part of the
    11  Commonwealth, preferably in Allegheny County; and
    12     WHEREAS, The additional cemetery for veterans could be either
    13  a National Cemetery or, in the alternative, a State Veterans'
    14  Cemetery, for which Federal funds are reportedly available;
    15  therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
     2  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Veterans'
     3  Administration and the Congress of the United States to promptly
     4  take such action as may be necessary for the establishment of
     5  either a National Cemetery or a State Veterans' Cemetery in the
     6  western part of the Commonwealth, preferably in Allegheny
     7  County; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     9  the Veterans' Administration, the presiding officers of each
    10  House of Congress and to each member of Congress from
    11  Pennsylvania.
