           COLAIZZO, MELIO, PRESTON, VEON AND JOHNSON, JANUARY 25, 1989

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 11, 1879 (P.L.147, No.153), entitled
     2     "An act fixing the compensation of persons called to serve as
     3     coroner's jurors in this commonwealth," increasing the
     4     compensation to be paid to jurors; and providing for mileage
     5     payments.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 1 of the act of June 11, 1879 (P.L.147,
     9  No.153), entitled "An act fixing the compensation of persons
    10  called to serve as coroner's jurors in this commonwealth,"
    11  amended November 9, 1959 (P.L.1397, No.495), is amended to read:
    12     Section 1.  [(a)  Be it enacted, &c., That all persons,
    13  except as hereinafter provided, summoned or notified to serve as
    14  coroner's jurors, in this commonwealth, shall be entitled to
    15  receive as compensation the sum of seven dollars ($7) per day,
    16  and no mileage; these fees to be paid in the same manner that
    17  the fees of coroner's jurors are now paid.] A person summoned to
    18  serve as a coroner's juror shall receive compensation at the
    19  rate of nine dollars ($9) per day for the first three days in

     1  any calendar year he is required to report for service and
     2  twenty-five dollars ($25) per day for each day thereafter in the
     3  calendar year that the person is required to report. In
     4  addition, a person so summoned shall be paid a travel allowance
     5  of seventeen cents per mile circular. The compensation and
     6  travel allowance shall be paid in the same manner that the fees
     7  of coroner's jurors are now paid.
     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
