A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of April 19 through 24, 1999, as "Week of 2 the Young Child" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The "Week of the Young Child" is an annual 4 celebration each April, sponsored by the National Association 5 for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation's 6 largest organization of early childhood professionals; and 7 WHEREAS, The purpose of the "Week of the Young Child" is to 8 focus public attention on the needs of young children and their 9 families and to support the programs and services that meet 10 those needs; and 11 WHEREAS, The NAEYC first established the "Week of the Young 12 Child" in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years lay
1 the foundation for children's success in school and later life; 2 and 3 WHEREAS, The "Week of the Young Child" is a time to focus on 4 the needs of young children and families and to plan how all 5 citizens of the community, State and nation can better meet the 6 needs of all young children and their families; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 8 week of April 19 through 24, 1999, as "Week of the Young Child" 9 in Pennsylvania.
