        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 19, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of March 25 through 31, 2007, as "Boys and
     2     Girls Clubs of America Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America have touched the
     4  lives of millions of children and teens through membership and
     5  community outreach, with more than 4,000 club locations in all
     6  50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands plus domestic and
     7  international military bases; and
     8     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is the home to 17 independent Boys and
     9  Girls Clubs of America organizations operating in 75
    10  neighborhoods; and


     1     WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America serve more than
     2  115,000 children from ages 5 to 18 across this Commonwealth; and
     3     WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America have helped, and
     4  will continue to help, hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania
     5  youngsters avoid drugs and gangs, earn better grades, stay fit,
     6  prepare for careers, learn confidence and responsibility and
     7  develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills; therefore
     8  be it
     9     RESOLVED, That, in recognition of the role Boys and Girls
    10  Clubs of America have played in our nation and Commonwealth, the
    11  House of Representatives designate the week of March 25 through
    12  31, 2007, as "Boys and Girls Clubs of America Week" in
    13  Pennsylvania.
