HOUSE RESOLUTION

                          In the House of Representatives, July 21, 1975

     1     WHEREAS, In commemoration of the two hundredth anniversary of
     2  American independence and so as to promote bicentennial
     3  activities and tourism in general, the Three Rivers Improvement
     4  and Development Corporation (TRIAD) has sponsored a six week
     5  river Bicentennial Celebration Tour from Pittsburgh,
     6  Pennsylvania to St. Louis, Missouri covering 17 cities and six
     7  states; and
     8     WHEREAS, This trip underlines the commonality between
     9  Pittsburgh and St. Louis as gateways to the west whether it be
    10  by early river raft traffic, Conestoga Wagon via the National or
    11  Cumberland Road, steamboat or modern transportation; therefore
    12  be it
    13     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the House of
    14  Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania encourages
    15  its citizens, in commemoration of their common heritage and
    16  common efforts with Missourians at opening the west, to spend
    17  their vacations in pursuit of their past by travelling
    18  throughout the historic countryside to Missouri; and be it

     2     RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to the
     3  General Assembly of the State of Missouri and that an additional
     4  copy be presented to the Three Rivers Improvement and
     5  Development Corporation in recognition of this bicentennial
     6  undertaking.
