AN ACT
1 Requiring State agencies to notify local officials of a
2 political subdivision before beginning a project within the
3 political subdivision's boundaries.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Definitions.
7 The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
8 have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
9 context clearly indicates otherwise:
10 "Project." Includes construction, reconstruction,
11 demolition, alteration or repair work, including repair of
12 existing facilities, done under contract and paid for in whole
13 or in part out of State funds where the estimated cost of the
14 total project is in excess of $25,000.
15 Section 2. Duty to notify.
16 A State agency shall notify the local officials of a
17 political subdivision before the State agency issues a permit
1 for a project within the political subdivision's boundaries. The
2 notification shall be provided in reasonably sufficient time to
3 provide officials and residents of the political subdivision
4 ample time to make necessary adjustments for ensuring safety and
5 for easing any hardship the project might cause.
6 Section 3. Effective date.
7 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
