A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of April 23, 2001, as "Rural Road Safety 2 Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Agriculture is Pennsylvania's number one industry; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Agriculture is dependent on the movement of farm 6 equipment on rural roads in this Commonwealth; and 7 WHEREAS, Farm equipment travels at slower speeds than other 8 traffic and is often wider than other vehicles; and 9 WHEREAS, Operators of farm equipment are not always aware of 10 their duties when operating those vehicles on roads; and 11 WHEREAS, Many drivers are not aware of the possible presence 12 of farm equipment on roads and the precautions that should be 13 taken on roads occupied by farm equipment; and 14 WHEREAS, The number of drivers on rural roads in this 15 Commonwealth is increasing; and 16 WHEREAS, It is the intent of the agricultural community to 17 raise awareness of the use of farm equipment on roads; therefore 18 be it
