                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, extending the period of eligibility for special
     3     early retirement.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 8312(4) of Title 24 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 8312.  Eligibility for special early retirement.
     9     Notwithstanding any provisions of this title to the contrary,
    10  for the period only of July 1, 1985, to July 1, [1997] 2000, the

     1  following special early retirement provisions shall be
     2  applicable to specified eligible members as follows:
     3         * * *
     4         (4)  During the period of July 1, 1993, to July 1, [1997]
     5     2000, a member who has credit for at least 30 eligibility
     6     points shall be entitled, upon termination of service and
     7     filing of a proper application, to receive a maximum single
     8     life annuity calculated pursuant to section 8342 without any
     9     reduction by virtue of an effective date of retirement which
    10     is under the superannuation age.
    11     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
