INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 18, 2009  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Designating May 23, 2009, as the "Twelfth Annual National Moment

2

of Silence Day" in Pennsylvania and urging emergency medical

3

service providers and agencies throughout this Commonwealth

4

to observe a special moment of silence in honor of those

5

emergency medical service personnel who have died in the line

6

of duty.

7

WHEREAS, The National EMS Memorial Service plans to hold a

8

memorial event on May 23, 2009, in Roanoke, Virginia, to honor

9

and remember those members of our nation's emergency medical

10

services who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives in

11

the line of duty during the past year; and

12

WHEREAS, The sponsors of the event ask for voluntary

13

participation by all the nation's emergency medical service

14

providers, agencies and emergency communication centers to

observe 60 seconds of radio silence timed to coincide with a

2

moment of silence observed during the actual service held in

3

Roanoke, Virginia, set for 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on May 23, 2009; and

4

WHEREAS, This year marks the twelfth time this shared moment

5

of silence for emergency medical service members is being

6

observed across the nation; therefore be it

7

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 23,

8

2009, as the "Twelfth Annual National Moment of Silence Day" in

9

Pennsylvania and urge emergency medical service providers and

10

agencies throughout this Commonwealth to observe a special

11

moment of silence in honor of those emergency medical service

12

personnel who have died in the line of duty.
