                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming the week of May 11 through 17, 1997, as "United
     2     States Armed Forces Week."

     3     WHEREAS, Americans owe enormous gratitude to our members of
     4  the United States Armed Forces; and
     5     WHEREAS, Since the birth of our Nation, the armed forces have
     6  played an important part in the defense and development of
     7  America; and
     8     WHEREAS, The armed forces have always rallied to the call in
     9  defense of our freedoms and to the assistance of our citizens
    10  when threatened by man-made or natural disaster; and


     1     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians and citizens nationwide join together
     2  in recognizing the week of May 11 through 17, 1997, as "United
     3  States Armed Forces Week" and acknowledging that the heroic
     4  efforts and sacrifices of the past, the present and future
     5  demand our gratitude and continuing respect; and
     6     WHEREAS, The unselfish deeds and conduct of servicepersons is
     7  a constant reminder of the value of our liberty, justice and
     8  peace and serves as an eternal light to the debt that our Nation
     9  owes our members of the armed forces; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim the week
    11  of May 11 through 17, 1997, as "United States Armed Forces Week"
    12  and urge all Pennsylvania citizens to pause and join with us in
    13  showing our appreciation to the members of our armed forces for
    14  their continued service, sacrifice and vigilance to our country
    15  and to this Commonwealth.
