A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the week of June 5 through 13, 1999, as "National 2 Fishing Week" and proclaiming June 6, 1999, as "Fish for Free 3 Day" in Pennsylvania. 4 WHEREAS, Some 1.5 million Pennsylvanians fish the waters of 5 this Commonwealth making more than 26 million trips to 6 Commonwealth waters each year; and 7 WHEREAS, The sport of fishing contributes more than $1 8 billion to the economy of this Commonwealth; and 9 WHEREAS, Fishing is an established recreational tradition 10 rooted deeply in the history of our State and long enjoyed by 11 its citizens; and 12 WHEREAS, "National Fishing Week," June 5 through 13, 1999, is 13 a multifaceted public-private cooperative program designed to 14 promote recreational fishing and aquatic resource education in
1 the United States; and 2 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth is celebrating "National Fishing 3 Week" this year by sponsoring a "Fish for Free Day" on June 6; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, "Fish for Free Day" provides all Pennsylvanians 16 6 years of age and older with an opportunity to sample the 7 diversity of fishing opportunities without a fishing license; 8 therefore be it 9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 10 week of June 5 through 13, 1999, as "National Fishing Week" and 11 proclaim June 6, 1999, as "Fish for Free Day" in Pennsylvania.
