A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship, June 2 11 through 13, 1999. 3 WHEREAS, Kung fu and all the Chinese martial arts have a 4 history dating back thousands of years and are important Chinese 5 cultural treasures appreciated all over the world; and 6 WHEREAS, The Chinese martial arts promote self-discipline and 7 a healthy mind and body; and 8 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship is 9 sharing this important cultural heritage with the people of 10 Pennsylvania through a tournament, seminars and demonstrations 11 by masters of Chinese martial arts; and 12 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship 13 maintains this important art by helping participants to improve 14 their knowledge and skill; and 15 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship is the 16 first tournament in Pennsylvania sanctioned by the United States
1 of America Wushu Kung Fu Federation; and 2 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship is the 3 first mid-Atlantic regional tournament held in Pennsylvania; and 4 WHEREAS, The 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship is the 5 largest gathering of Chinese martial artists ever held in 6 Pennsylvania; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 8 1999 Pittsburgh Martial Arts Championship being held June 11 9 through 13, 1999, in Fitzgerald Fieldhouse at the University of 10 Pittsburgh.
