        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 16, 2003

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the accomplishments of the Pittsburgh Steelers on the
     2     occasion of winning the inaugural AFC North Division Title,
     3     15 AFC Central Division Titles and their exciting come-from-
     4     behind victory over the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild-Card
     5     Divisional Playoff game.

     6     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the regular season
     7  with a 10-5-1 record; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Steelers' offense ended the 2002 season ranked
     9  fourth overall in the NFL, averaging 132.5 rushing and 252.3
    10  passing yards per game; and
    11     WHEREAS, The Steelers' defense ended the 2002 season ranked
    12  seventh overall in the NFL, allowing an NFL best 85.9 yards
    13  rushing per game; and
    14     WHEREAS, On January 5, 2002, the Steelers defeated the

     1  Cleveland Browns in an overtime thriller 36-33 in the AFC Wild-
     2  Card Divisional Playoff game, thereby advancing to the AFC
     3  Divisional Playoff game against the Tennessee Titans; and
     4     WHEREAS, Although the Steelers eventually lost to the
     5  Tennessee Titans in another overtime thriller, 31-34, the
     6  Steelers' winning football season has united the Pittsburgh
     7  community and reminded us all of the significance of community
     8  spirit and pride; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the players
    10  of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Head Coach Bill Cowher and all the
    11  members of the Steelers coaching staff on the occasion of
    12  winning their first AFC North Division Title, their victory over
    13  the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild-Card Divisional Playoff
    14  game and another outstanding season.
