                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring mothers on Mother's Day.

     2     WHEREAS, Our mothers are precious to us, shaping our
     3  character and values and providing us with unconditional love
     4  and support throughout our lifetimes; and
     5     WHEREAS, Although with each day comes the opportunity to
     6  honor our mothers, Sunday, May 11, 2003, marks the formal
     7  recognition of the important role mothers play in the lives of
     8  all Pennsylvanians; and
     9     WHEREAS, Mothers, whether working full time as homemakers or

     1  as part of the labor force, remain the cornerstone of the
     2  family; and
     3     WHEREAS, With compassion and understanding, our mothers
     4  contribute to our future by serving as a source of strength in
     5  times of difficulty, encouragement in moments of doubt and
     6  empathy in periods of distress; and
     7     WHEREAS, Mothers inspire their children throughout their
     8  lifetimes to live up to their full potential; and
     9     WHEREAS, Through our mother's caring we develop a sense of
    10  self-worth and self-esteem which assists us in becoming well-
    11  adjusted, healthy adults; and
    12     WHEREAS, Motherhood is challenging but rewarding, fulfilled
    13  through dedication and commitment of women worldwide; therefore
    14  be it
    15     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all citizens
    16  to honor their mothers and mothers everywhere for the many
    17  valuable contributions they make to our lives, our families and
    18  our society; and be it further
    19     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate Sunday,
    20  May 11, 2003, as "Mother's Day" in Pennsylvania in order to
    21  formally recognize and honor the roles, responsibilities and
    22  contributions of mothers in our Commonwealth and the nation.
