AN ACT 1 Providing for the waiver of tuition at certain colleges and 2 universities for certain veterans and their dependent 3 children. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Short title. 7 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Veterans 8 Tuition Waiver Act. 9 Section 2. Waiver of tuition. 10 The boards of trustees of community colleges and the boards 11 of trustees of institutions which are members of the State 12 System of Higher Education shall waive the payment of tuition 13 fees for the following: 14 (1) Dependent children of an individual whom the United 15 States Armed Forces has declared to be missing in action or 16 to have been a prisoner of war while serving in the armed
1 forces after January 1, 1960, if the individual was a 2 resident of this Commonwealth at the time of entering the 3 service or during service. In order to take advantage of this 4 paragraph, a child must be accepted for admission to the 5 institution. 6 (2) A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who 7 served in a combat or combat-support role in the invasion of 8 Grenada or the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, if the 9 veteran was a resident of this Commonwealth at the time of 10 entering the service or if the veteran was a resident of this 11 Commonwealth during service and was or is a resident of this 12 Commonwealth at the time of acceptance for admission to the 13 institution. 14 Section 3.
