                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, requiring road spray suppressor devices on
     3     vehicles.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 4537.  Road spray suppressor devices.
     9     (a)  Trucks and other heavy vehicles.--On or before November
    10  1, 1995, every truck, trailer and truck tractor driven on a
    11  highway in this Commonwealth shall have road spray suppressor
    12  devices installed and in proper operating order. The devices
    13  shall be installed to minimize the amount of road spray from
    14  rain or snow which can be deposited on windshields of other
    15  vehicles by the tires of the truck, trailer or truck tractor.
    16     (b)  New vehicles.--On or before December 31, 1996, every new
    17  vehicle registered in this Commonwealth shall be equipped with


     1  road spray suppressor devices for the purpose set forth in
     2  subsection (a).
     3     (c)  Vehicles owned by the Commonwealth or a political
     4  subdivision.--On or before December 31, 1997, every vehicle
     5  owned by the Commonwealth or any of its political subdivisions
     6  shall have road spray suppressor devices installed and in proper
     7  operating order for the purpose set forth in subsection (a).
     8     (d)  Penalty.--The owner of a vehicle which is driven in this
     9  Commonwealth in violation of this section commits a summary
    10  offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine
    11  of up to $50.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
