        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           SEPTEMBER 25, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the citizens of this Commonwealth to offer their prayers
     2     and support and every assistance necessary to those affected
     3     by the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, in the United


     1     States.

     2     WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, the United States was the
     3  victim of an orchestrated terrorist attack of unimaginable
     4  proportions in which thousands of innocent victims were killed
     5  and injured; and
     6     WHEREAS, New York City, for centuries the center of American
     7  commerce and culture, and the Pentagon near our nation's
     8  Capitol, Washington, D.C., the command center of the America's
     9  military, were the targets of this cowardly attack; and
    10     WHEREAS, This attack, unprecedented on American soil, was a
    11  cowardly act of war against all people who profess to love
    12  freedom; and
    13     WHEREAS, The American people, ever resilient and mindful of
    14  our nation's long and storied history, will rise to this latest
    15  challenge to our national unity and sovereignty; and
    16     WHEREAS, Thousands of selfless heroes from across the nation
    17  have risked their lives in rescue and relief efforts in New York
    18  City, Washington, D.C., and this Commonwealth; and
    19     WHEREAS, Tragically, many heroes risked and lost their lives
    20  while trying to save the lives of others; therefore be it
    21     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the citizens
    22  of this Commonwealth to offer their prayers and support and
    23  every assistance necessary to those affected by this tragedy;
    24  and be it further
    25     RESOLVED, That Pennsylvanians forever honor and commemorate
    26  the heroes and innocent victims of this tragedy; and be it
    27  further
    28     RESOLVED, That Pennsylvanians demonstrate and affirm their
    29  patriotism and support of our nation's leaders and military
    30  during this challenging period by proudly flying the American

     1  flag; and be it further
     2     RESOLVED, That citizens of this Commonwealth and its elected
     3  leaders stand firmly with our President, supporting the armed
     4  forces of the United States and all branches of our government
     5  in the pursuit, capture and punishment of those responsible for
     6  this despicable act.
