                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for a designated percentage of tobacco litigation
     2     Master Settlement Agreement funds to be utilized for breast
     3     cancer research, for diagnosis and treatment of depression
     4     and for an educational campaign to prevent and treat heart
     5     disease.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8  Section 1.  Short title.
     9     This act shall be known and may be cited as the Tobacco
    10  Settlement Women's Health Act.
    11  Section 2.  Definitions.
    12     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
    13  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    14  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    15     "Tobacco litigation Master Settlement Agreement."  The Master
    16  Settlement Agreement relating to tobacco litigation entered into
    17  in 1998 by the Commonwealth and leading United States tobacco


     1  product manufacturers.
     2  Section 3.  Set aside for research, treatment and educational
     3                 efforts.
     4     Annually, one-third of all money received by the Commonwealth
     5  under the tobacco litigation Master Settlement Agreement shall
     6  be set aside for appropriation by the General Assembly for the
     7  following:
     8         (1)  Breast cancer research.
     9         (2)  Diagnosis and treatment of depression.
    10         (3)  An educational campaign to raise public awareness
    11     and to educate the general public, particularly women, about
    12     the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
    13  Section 10.  Effective date.
    14     This act shall take effect immediately.
