        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY, FEBRUARY 3, 1999

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, defining the offense of falsifying
     3     identification to law enforcement officers; and providing
     4     penalties.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     9  § 4904.1.  False identification.
    10     (a)  General rule.--Notwithstanding section 4904(a)(2)
    11  (relating to unsworn falsification to authorities), it shall be
    12  unlawful to submit false identification to any law enforcement
    13  officer, whether orally or in writing, with intent to conceal a
    14  true identity.
    15     (b)  Grading.--A violation of this section constitutes a
    16  misdemeanor of the second degree.
    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
