        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           DECEMBER 9, 1997

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Congratulating the Wellsboro High School Girls Cross Country
     2     Team on its State championship title.

     3     WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania proudly recognizes
     4  the notable achievements realized by its youth in the spirit of
     5  competition, personal sacrifice, commitment to a goal and unity
     6  of purpose; and
     7     WHEREAS, The Wellsboro High School Girls Cross Country Team
     8  has captured the first State championship title in the school's
     9  history by defeating 19 other title contenders in tournament
    10  play at The Pennsylvania State University; and
    11     WHEREAS, With the PIAA Class AA State Cross Country title,
    12  the Lady Hornets have asserted local and Statewide dominance in
    13  cross country competition; and

     1     WHEREAS, Under the leadership of coach Aaron Yungwirth and
     2  assistant coach Jill Tombs, the team has compiled 82 consecutive
     3  dual meet victories in the past six years; and
     4     WHEREAS, Members of the team include Tara Guelig, Daria
     5  Guelig, Jo Simonis, Flo Simonis, Jessica Spencer, Kim Sayre,
     6  Holly Sayre, Rachael Waters, Crystal Plumley, Jehanna Howe, Amy
     7  Czako, Hannah Moore, Allison Dillion, Anne Steiner, Margaret
     8  Rathmell and Sheila Swagler; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
    10  Wellsboro High School Girls Cross Country Team upon its richly
    11  deserved State championship title and affirm that each member of
    12  the team has excelled to the utmost of her athletic ability to
    13  achieve such success; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    15  the Wellsboro High School Girls Cross Country Team.
