INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JULY 7, 2003
A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the 125th anniversary of the founding of the 2 Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association. 3 WHEREAS, Eight pharmacists from central Pennsylvania met with 4 22 others from around the State in February 1878 and founded an 5 association of pharmacists, chartered on August 26, 1878, as the 6 Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association; and 7 WHEREAS, The purpose of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists 8 Association is to unite all pharmacists in all areas of practice 9 and all persons desiring to promote and support the profession 10 of pharmacy in this Commonwealth in accomplishing the following
1 objectives: 2 (1) To assure a high quality of professional practice 3 through the establishment and maintenance of high standards 4 of professional ethics, education and attainment. 5 (2) To promote the practice of pharmacy as a profession 6 concerned with preserving and protecting public health 7 through education of consumers and other health 8 professionals. 9 (3) To protect and promote the professional and economic 10 security of its members; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, Today the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association is a 13 professional membership association of 2,000 registered 14 pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians and pharmacy 15 students who reside, work, attend college or are interested in 16 pharmacy in Pennsylvania; and 17 WHEREAS, Members comprise all pharmacy settings, including 18 academia, clinical practice and research, hospital, government, 19 community pharmacy owner or employee, long-term care, mail 20 order, managed care and the pharmaceutical industry; and 21 WHEREAS, The citizens of this Commonwealth are well served by 22 the dedicated members of this vital association; therefore be it 23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 24 125th anniversary of the founding of the Pennsylvania 25 Pharmacists Association.
