AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), entitled,
2as amended, "An act relating to counties of the second class
3and second class A; amending, revising, consolidating and
4changing the laws relating thereto," further providing for
5markers on graves, memorial certificates and headstones.

6The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7hereby enacts as follows:

8Section 1. Section 2113(h) of the act of July 28, 1953
9(P.L.723, No.230), known as the Second Class County Code, is
10amended to read:

11Section 2113. Markers on Graves; Memorial Certificates;
12Headstones.--* * *

13(h) Each headstone shall contain his or her name and the
14rank and organization to which he or she belonged or in which he
15or she served, in letters raised or cut in at least three-
16sixteenths of an inch deep. The headstone shall be of either
17marble or granite and shall be placed or set in a concrete base
18at least three feet deep, or if a headstone has been provided

1for such grave by the United States Government, the county
2commissioners shall provide the concrete base therefor, or if
3lettering only on an existing memorial is desired by the family,
4the county commissioners shall provide such lettering. Amounts 
5charged for the concrete base shall not exceed the sum of two 
6hundred fifty dollars ($250).
