                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the offense of
     3     impersonating a law enforcement officer.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 4912 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 4912.  Impersonating a public servant.
     9     (a)  Law enforcement officers.--A person commits a
    10  misdemeanor of the first degree if he pretends to be a law
    11  enforcement officer by displaying a badge with the intent to
    12  induce another to submit to such pretended official authority or
    13  otherwise to act in reliance upon that pretense to his
    14  prejudice.
    15     (b)  Other public servants.--A person commits a misdemeanor
    16  of the second degree if he falsely pretends to hold a position

     1  in the public service with intent to induce another to submit to
     2  such pretended official authority or otherwise to act in
     3  reliance upon that pretense to his prejudice.
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
