        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JANUARY 22, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of February 3 through 9, 2002, as "Students
     2     in Free Enterprise Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a nonprofit,
     4  international organization with chapters on the campuses of more
     5  than 750 colleges and universities; and
     6     WHEREAS, SIFE has continuously encouraged the free enterprise
     7  system through educational programs since its inception more
     8  than 25 years ago by Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart; and
     9     WHEREAS, SIFE not only is involved with the encouragement of
    10  the free enterprise system but has worked closely with many
    11  national and international charitable organizations such as the
    12  American Red Cross, the American Lung Association and the Civil

     1  Air Patrol on various projects; and
     2     WHEREAS, SIFE has participated in programs such as
     3  "Responsible Use of Credit Week," "Make a Difference Day" and
     4  "Teach a Child about Business Week"; and
     5     WHEREAS, SIFE with its various programs is a valuable asset
     6  to the people of this Commonwealth and should be recognized for
     7  its services; therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     9  week of February 3 through 9, 2002, as "Students in Free
    10  Enterprise Week" in Pennsylvania.
