        INTRODUCED BY BARRAR, ADOLPH, ARMSTRONG, BALDWIN, CAUSER,
           CLYMER, CRAHALLA, DENLINGER, ELLIS, D. EVANS, FAIRCHILD,
           GOOD, HENNESSEY, KAUFFMAN, KILLION, MACKERETH, MARSICO,
           MUSTIO, NAILOR, O'NEILL, RAPP, REICHLEY, RUBLEY, SCAVELLO,
           STERN, T. STEVENSON, J. TAYLOR, TRUE AND ZUG, JULY 2, 2005

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, JULY 2, 2005


                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Establishing a legislative committee to study autism and make
     2     recommendations regarding health insurance coverage needs for
     3     persons with autism.

     4     WHEREAS, There is an increasing prevalence of autism
     5  diagnoses by the medical community, but autism remains a
     6  mysterious and not widely discussed condition; and
     7     WHEREAS, Autism affects the community, the family and the
     8  austistic individual in unique ways and calls for costly health
     9  care; and
    10     WHEREAS, At the rate autism diagnoses are increasing, it
    11  would be prudent and wise for the House of Representatives to
    12  explore health care needs and health insurance benefits which
    13  are necessary for treating persons with autism; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives appoint a
    15  legislative committee to study autism and make recommendations
    16  regarding health insurance coverage needs for persons with


     1  autism; and be it further
     2     RESOLVED, That this committee include, but not be limited to,
     3  the chairman and minority chairman of the Health and Human
     4  Services Committee, the chairman and minority chairman of the
     5  Insurance Committee and such other members of the House of
     6  Representatives as the Speaker shall appoint; and be it further
     7     RESOLVED, That this committee may hold hearings, swear
     8  witnesses and subpoena records in order to fully comply with its
     9  mandate under this resolution; and be it further
    10     RESOLVED, That final recommendations be presented by report
    11  to the House of Representatives no later than November 30, 2005.
