A RESOLUTION
1Commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of Hanover,
2York County.
3WHEREAS, In 1763, Richard McAllister divided his farm into
4individual plots of land and founded the town of Hanover; and
5WHEREAS, Hanover has a total of 3.7 square miles; and
6WHEREAS, Hanover has a population of approximately 15,300
7people; and
8WHEREAS, Hanover has been proclaimed by many to be the Snack
9Food Capital of the World, and it is the place of a rich
10manufacturing heritage that continues to this day; and
11WHEREAS, Hanover played a significant role in the Battle of
12Gettysburg; and
13WHEREAS, Throughout 2013, the residents of Hanover will be
14commemorating the vibrant history of their town through
15community events; therefore be it
16RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
17250th anniversary of the founding of Hanover, York County.
