        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           SEPTEMBER 26, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing September 29, 2007, as "Genealogy Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The State Library of Pennsylvania has long been a
     4  depository and resource center for genealogical studies; and
     5     WHEREAS, Genealogy is an important aspect in understanding
     6  and preserving our history and culture; and
     7     WHEREAS, Genealogy is a popular subject among Pennsylvanians,
     8  but many people do not know how to begin a genealogical search;
     9  and
    10     WHEREAS, The State Library, on September 29, 2007, will
    11  sponsor "Genealogy Day" and hold information sessions in
    12  Pennsylvania-German research, Scotch-Irish research, as well as
    13  resources found and available at the State Library and the State
    14  Archives; and
    15     WHEREAS, It is important to support this day of learning;

     1  therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
     3  September 29, 2007, as "Genealogy Day" in Pennsylvania.
