INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, OCTOBER 21, 2003
A RESOLUTION 1 Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the 2 Borough of Catasauqua. 3 WHEREAS, On February 1, 1853, the Borough of Catasauqua was 4 incorporated in Lehigh County; and 5 WHEREAS, Catasauqua, a small urban municipality, has provided 6 a full scope of municipal services to residents, neighbors, 7 visitors and tourists for the past 150 years; and 8 WHEREAS, The yearlong celebration commemorating Catasauqua's 9 150-year existence began in 2003 with a banquet to which all 10 living former elected and appointed Catasauqua officials were 11 invited; and 12 WHEREAS, The celebration continued with scheduled events and 13 activities for all ages, from youth sports to a senior picnic; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, The celebration concluded October 4, 2003, with a 16 seven-division parade through Catasauqua during the day and an 17 evening ceremony at the high school stadium; and
1 WHEREAS, Parade participants included the Pennsylvania 2 Mounted State Police Color Guard, eight high school bands, 3 Mansfield University Band, Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, a 4 division of the United States Army which performs at similar 5 events, and the Polish American String Band; and 6 WHEREAS, The evening ceremony included several high school 7 bands, Mansfield University Band and representatives of the 8 armed forces, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and 9 culminated in a mass performance entitled "An All American 10 Salute" and a finale of fireworks; therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the 12 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Borough of 13 Catasauqua.
