A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative 2 stamp honoring the men who lost their lives in the 3 peacekeeping mission in Beirut, Lebanon, from 1982 to 1984. 4 WHEREAS, This year marks the 20th anniversary of the bombing 5 of the Marine barracks in Beirut on October 23, 1983; and 6 WHEREAS, The Marines killed in the Beirut bombing were some 7 of the first victims of the terrorism which Americans have 8 suffered in the past 20 years; and 9 WHEREAS, The Beirut bombing affected Marines from nearly 10 every state in the Union who served in Beirut to restore peace 11 in a war-torn nation; and 12 WHEREAS, Congressman Walter B. Jones of North Carolina has 13 introduced House Resolution 45 which urges the United States 14 Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring the men 15 who lost their lives in the peacekeeping mission in Beirut,
1 Lebanon, from 1982 to 1984; therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 3 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge the United States Postal 4 Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring the men who lost 5 their lives in the peacekeeping mission in Beirut, Lebanon, from 6 1982 to 1984; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to the 8 United States Postal Service and to the members of Congress from 9 Pennsylvania; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 11 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge our Congressmen to add their 12 names as cosponsors of Congressman Jones' resolution.
