        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 18, 2000

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 28, 2000, as "Workers' Memorial Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, It is appropriate to pay tribute to the memory of
     4  those courageous and dedicated members of Pennsylvania's labor
     5  force who have died as a result of accidents in the workplace;
     6  and
     7     WHEREAS, It is appropriate to honor those workers who have
     8  been injured or disabled in workplace accidents; and
     9     WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the integrity of
    10  Pennsylvania's work force and its achievements on behalf of the


     1  economic growth of our Commonwealth; and
     2     WHEREAS, It is also appropriate to call for vigilance and
     3  increased safety in the workplace; and
     4     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives wishes to pay tribute
     5  to those workers who have died or been injured or disabled in
     6  workplace accidents, to honor the contributions of
     7  Pennsylvania's work force and to call for increased workplace
     8  safety; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
    10  28, 2000, as "Workers' Memorial Day" in Pennsylvania.
