AN ACT 1 Amending the act of January 25, 1966 (1965 P.L.1546, No.541), 2 entitled "An act providing scholarships and providing funds 3 to secure Federal funds for qualified students of the 4 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who need financial assistance to 5 attend postsecondary institutions of higher learning, making 6 an appropriation, and providing for the administration of 7 this act," further providing for the length of scholarships 8 for certain scholarship recipients. 9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 10 hereby enacts as follows: 11 Section 1. Section 8(a) of the act of January 25, 1966 (1965 12 P.L.1546, No.541), entitled "An act providing scholarships and 13 providing funds to secure Federal funds for qualified students 14 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who need financial 15 assistance to attend postsecondary institutions of higher 16 learning, making an appropriation, and providing for the 17 administration of this act," is amended to read: 18 Section 8. (a) Each State scholarship is renewable until
1 the course of study is completed, but not to exceed an 2 additional [three] four academic years beyond the first year of 3 the award. These may not necessarily be consecutive years and 4 the scholarship will be terminated if the student receives his 5 degree in a shorter period of time. Qualifications for renewal 6 will include maintaining satisfactory academic standing, making 7 normal progress toward completion of the course of study, and 8 continued eligibility as determined by the agency including 9 continual legal residency. In the case of a scholarship 10 recipient who has been determined by the agency to be an 11 independent student, the scholarship shall, provided that other 12 qualifications for renewal are met, be renewable for four 13 academic years. 14 * * * 15 Section 2.
