A RESOLUTION 1 Designating July 18 through 25, 1998, as "Don Budge Week" in 2 Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, In 1938 Don Budge, currently a resident of Dingmans 4 Ferry, Pike County, Pennsylvania, became the first person to win 5 the national titles of four tennis powers: Australia, Great 6 Britain, France and the United States; and 7 WHEREAS, This accomplishment in tennis is known as the Tennis 8 Grand Slam; and 9 WHEREAS, To date, the record set by Don Budge has not been 10 equaled by another American tennis player; and 11 WHEREAS, The Budge record stands as one of the longest and 12 may be the longest United States athletic streak in a major 13 sport; and 14 WHEREAS, Don Budge has been rated one of the two best all- 15 time great players in a computer simulation comparing match
