        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 21, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Specialist William L. Evans, Pennsylvania
     3     National Guard Company C, 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry
     4     Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, who tragically lost his
     5     life while in the service of his country when an improvised
     6     explosive device was detonated near his Bradley Fighting
     7     Vehicle in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on September 19, 2005.

     8     WHEREAS, Specialist William L. Evans, of Hallstead, graduated
     9  in 2002 from Blue Ridge High School, where he was a popular
    10  student, was on the track team and was an active member of band
    11  and choir; and
    12     WHEREAS, Spc. Evans, a gifted photographer, worked part time


     1  as a professional photographer during his senior year of high
     2  school and "had one of the best eyes of any photographer I have
     3  ever seen," according to Rick Craige, owner of Craige's
     4  Photique, where Evans continued to work following graduation;
     5  and
     6     WHEREAS, Spc. Evans enlisted in the Pennsylvania National
     7  Guard in 2003, and his unit deployed to Iraq in 2005 for the
     8  purpose of performing stability and support operations in Ar
     9  Ramadi, capital of Anbar province; and
    10     WHEREAS, Spc. Evans died tragically from injuries received
    11  after an improvised explosive device was detonated near the M2A2
    12  Bradley Fighting Vehicle he was driving in Ar Ramadi, Iraq; and
    13     WHEREAS, Spc. Evans was one of four servicepersons killed in
    14  the incident, three of whom were from Pennsylvania; and
    15     WHEREAS, Spc. Evans, beloved son of Judy and Bill Evans and
    16  brother of Josh and Heather, was courageously serving his
    17  country and the campaign for Iraqi Enduring Freedom at the time
    18  of his death; and
    19     WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of this
    20  young man and his indomitable courage, good humor, enduring
    21  spirit, capacity to love and exemplary record of service;
    22  therefore be it
    23     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
    24  and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Spc. William
    25  L. Evans, who died on September 19, 2005, in Iraq while in the
    26  courageous service of his country; and be it further
    27     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    28  Mr. and Mrs. William Evans of Hallstead, Pennsylvania.
