WHEREAS, Mrs. White began to apply her musical background to
learning and later performing on the harp, eventually giving
harp lessons; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White's love of learning and working with
people led her to study and earn a master's degree in elementary
guidance and counseling from Lehigh University, and she applied
her skills in her position as a counselor in the Souderton
School District; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White ran for Mayor of Doylestown and
campaigned the old-fashioned way, knocking on doors and engaging
with her neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White won the election and became Doylestown's
first female mayor; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White served two terms as Mayor of Doylestown
and played a critical role in a number of initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White helped create the Doylestown Borough
Commission for All Ages, whose goal was to create activities and
interactions between residents of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White was also instrumental in the "Clean and
Green" project, which was devoted to removing litter from
downtown Doylestown and enhancing quality of life for all
residents; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White also supported several major developments
that contributed to the growth of Doylestown, including her role
in helping to form the Central Bucks Regional Police Department,
the construction and location of the newest Bucks County
Courthouse and early work to create a park and new offices for
both the Central Bucks Regional Police and the Doylestown
borough government; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. White passed away on her 87th birthday on June
