        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, IN SENATE, NOVEMBER 9, 1999

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for face-to-face contact for
     3     high risk abused children.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 6362 and 6375 of Title 23 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended by adding
     8  subsections to read:
     9  § 6362.  Responsibilities of county agency for child protective
    10             services.

    12     (f)  Weekly face-to-face contacts.--For those children


     1  assessed as being at high risk for abuse or neglect who are
     2  remaining in or returning to the home in which the abuse OR       <--
     3  NEGLECT occurred, the county agency shall ensure that those
     4  children are seen at least once a week, either directly by a
     5  county agency worker or through purchase of service, until they
     6  are no longer assessed as being at high risk for abuse or
     7  neglect.
     8  § 6375.  County agency requirements for general protective
     9             services.

    11     (m)  Weekly face-to-face contacts.--For those children
    12  assessed under this section as being at high risk for abuse or
    13  neglect who are remaining in or returning to the home in which
    14  the abuse or neglect occurred, the county agency shall ensure
    15  that those children are seen at least once a week, either
    16  directly by a county agency worker or through purchase of
    17  service, until they are no longer assessed as being at high risk
    18  for abuse or neglect.
    19     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
