A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation's Korean
2veterans of the Vietnam War.

3WHEREAS, The United States entered the Vietnam War to prevent
4a Communist takeover of South Vietnam and more than three
5million American troops fought bravely in the cause of freedom
6and democracy; and

7WHEREAS, 58,193 American soldiers were killed and more than
8300,000 were wounded during the conflict; and

9WHEREAS, Korean soldiers were sent to the Vietnam War to
10support American troops and the cause for freedom at the request
11of the United States; and

12WHEREAS, 325,517 Korean soldiers served valiantly in Vietnam

1from 1964 through 1973; and

2WHEREAS, 5,099 Korean soldiers were killed and 10,962 Korean
3soldiers were injured during the war; and

4WHEREAS, The Korean soldiers who fought heroically alongside
5American soldiers were known throughout the conflict for their
6effectiveness; therefore be it

7RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
8significant and enduring accomplishments of our nation's Korean
9veterans and confirm its commitment to preserving the memory of
10those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.
