INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, DECEMBER 13, 2005
A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating Major General Jessica L. Wright, Adjutant General 2 of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania National Guard for 3 their transformation of the 56th Brigade of the 28th Infantry 4 Division (Mechanized) into the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat 5 Team and for their ongoing efforts to administer more than $1 6 billion in Federal funds to improve armories, training sites 7 and ranges. 8 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania National Guard has achieved the 9 highest levels of strength and readiness; and 10 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania National Guard is one of the 11 largest National Guard forces in the United States and is 12 considered by many to be the best state National Guard in the 13 nation; and 14 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania distinguished itself nationally when 15 the 56th Brigade of the 28th Infantry Division (Mechanized) was 16 selected for transformation into the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat 17 Team; and
1 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team is 2 the only Stryker unit established in the National Guard and the 3 Army Reserve Component; and 4 WHEREAS, Transformation of the 56th Brigade will bring new 5 equipment and the latest military technology to the Pennsylvania 6 Army National Guard; and 7 WHEREAS, The 56th Brigade, which will headquarter in the 8 Philadelphia area, will employ 3,717 traditional Guard members 9 and 220 full-time administrative employees; and 10 WHEREAS, The 56th Brigade will be equipped with about 300 11 Strykers, the Army's new state-of-the-art, rapidly deployable 12 wheeled vehicle; and 13 WHEREAS, Transformation of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat 14 Team will result in scores of planned new construction and 15 upgrade projects at armories and readiness centers located 16 across this Commonwealth from Erie to Philadelphia; and 17 WHEREAS, The United States Army will invest about $1.5 18 billion in the new 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team; therefore 19 be it 20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate 21 Major General Jessica L. Wright, Adjutant General of 22 Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania National Guard for their 23 transformation of Pennsylvania's 56th Stryker Brigade Combat 24 Team and for their ongoing efforts to improve armories, training 25 sites and ranges across our Commonwealth; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to 27 the Adjutant General, to the Commanding General of the 28th 28 Infantry Division (Mechanized), to the Commanding Officers of 29 the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team and its supporting 30 battalions and to the leadership of the Pennsylvania National 20050H0535R3299 - 2 -
