                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for the offense of failure
     3     to maintain automated external defibrillator at athletic
     4     events.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     9  § 7331.  Failure to maintain automated external defibrillator at
    10             athletic events.
    11     (a)  Offense.--Any person who organizes or conducts an
    12  athletic event and who fails to furnish and maintain an
    13  automated external defibrillator for use during the athletic
    14  event commits a misdemeanor of the third degree.
    15     (b)  Definition.--As used in this section, the term
    16  "automated external defibrillator" means a portable device which
    17  uses electric shock to restore a stable heart rhythm to an


     1  individual in cardiac arrest.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
