        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 1, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the year 2002 as the 100th anniversary of 4-H.

     2     WHEREAS, 4-H is a nonprofit organization supporting youth
     3  development programs through the Cooperative Extension System, a
     4  partnership of the United States Department of Agriculture,
     5  state land-grant universities and local county governments; and
     6     WHEREAS, 4-H clubs have helped to mold many young individuals
     7  into fine and outstanding citizens; and
     8     WHEREAS, More than 6.8 million youth are involved in 4-H
     9  programs each year; and

     1     WHEREAS, 4-H clubs are dedicated to principles outlined in
     2  the pledge:
     3         I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,
     4         my Heart to greater loyalty,
     5         my Hands to larger service,
     6         and my Health to better living for
     7         my club, my community, my country, and my world;
     8  and
     9     WHEREAS, 4-H is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year;
    10  therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize 4-H on
    12  its 100th anniversary and commend its past accomplishments and
    13  future goals.
