| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Expressing sorrow upon the death of Police Officer Michael |
2 | Crawshaw, and extending condolences to his family. |
3 | WHEREAS, Police Officer Michael Crawshaw valiantly gave his |
4 | life in the line of duty at the age of 32 on December 6, 2009; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, Officer Crawshaw was the first officer on the scene |
7 | of a home invasion and murder and was himself fatally shot by |
8 | the suspect as the suspect fled the scene; and |
9 | WHEREAS, The suspect was apprehended a short time later and |
10 | awaits prosecution; and |
11 | WHEREAS, A graduate of Shaler Area High School, Officer |
12 | Crawshaw joined the Penn Hills Police Department after serving |
13 | as a campus police officer for the University of Pittsburgh; and |
14 | WHEREAS, For the past four years, Officer Crawshaw faithfully |
15 | displayed great loyalty, commitment and professionalism in the |
16 | performance of his duties as a member of the Penn Hills Police |
17 | Department; and |

1 | WHEREAS, He served with consummate skill, upheld the laws of |
2 | this Commonwealth and was a role model for those who aspire to a |
3 | career in law enforcement; and |
4 | WHEREAS, A beloved family member and active community |
5 | steward, Officer Crawshaw exemplified the best qualities of |
6 | human service, and generously gave of his heart and time to |
7 | enhance the quality of life of his family and community; and |
8 | WHEREAS, A great public servant of this Commonwealth, his |
9 | loss will be felt by the many individuals who knew, admired and |
10 | loved him; therefore be it |
11 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express sorrow |
12 | upon the death of Police Officer Michael Crawshaw, and extend |
13 | heartfelt condolences to his parents, Linda and James Crawshaw |
14 | III; brother, Matt and other family members. |
