AN ACT 1 Designating a section of State Route 322 in Delaware County as 2 the Senator Clarence D. Bell Memorial Highway. 3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 4 hereby enacts as follows: 5 Section 1. Senator Clarence D. Bell Memorial Highway. 6 (a) Findings.--The General Assembly hereby finds and 7 declares as follows: 8 (1) Senator Clarence D. Bell (1914-2002) was the longest 9 serving member in the history of the Pennsylvania General 10 Assembly. 11 (2) Along with his many years of service to this 12 Commonwealth, Senator Bell was also an aspiring attorney and 13 served in the United States military during World War II 14 where he received the United States Army Legion of Merit and
1 the Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Medal. 2 (3) Senator Bell will be remembered for his devoted 47 3 years of service to the residents of Delaware and Chester 4 counties, serving as both a State representative and a State 5 senator. 6 (4) The distinguished achievements and contributions of 7 Senator Clarence D. Bell reflect the spirit of not only a 8 distinguished servant to our Commonwealth and the United 9 States military, but also a great Pennsylvanian. 10 (b) Designation authorized.--The highway in Delaware County 11 carrying State Route 322 from the interchange at I-95 to the 12 intersection of Route 1 at State Route 322 in Concord Township 13 is hereby designated and shall hereafter be known as the Senator 14 Clarence D. Bell Memorial Highway, in honor of Senator Clarence 15 D. Bell's dedicated years of service to the General Assembly and 16 to this Commonwealth. 17 (c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect 18 appropriate signs at each end of the highway displaying the 19 designation made by this section. 20 Section 2.
