AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for Pennsylvania Irish Caucus 3 registration plates and for a fund to renovate war memorials. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 8 § 1360. Pennsylvania Irish Caucus plate. 9 The department, in consultation with the Irish Legislative 10 Caucus of Pennsylvania, shall design a special Pennsylvania 11 Irish Caucus registration plate. Upon application of any person, 12 accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition to the 13 annual registration fee, the department shall issue the plate 14 for a passenger car or truck with a gross vehicle weight rating 15 of not more than 9,000 pounds. The Irish Famine Memorial Fund 16 shall receive $15 of the fee paid by the applicant for the
1 plate. 2 Section 2. Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a 3 subsection to read: 4 § 1905. Payments to special funds. 5 * * * 6 (d) Irish Famine Memorial Fund.--Fifteen dollars of each fee 7 received under section 1360 (relating to Pennsylvania Irish 8 Caucus plate) shall be credited to the Irish Famine Memorial 9 Fund, created as follows: 10 (1) There is hereby established a special account in the 11 State Treasury which shall be known as the Irish Famine 12 Memorial Fund. The purpose of the Irish Famine Memorial Fund 13 is for the establishment, restoration or renovation of 14 memorials and for conducting commemorative activities to 15 honor persons who suffered in the Irish famine. 16 (2) All moneys in the Irish Famine Memorial Fund are 17 hereby annually appropriated to the Irish Legislative Caucus 18 of Pennsylvania to be expended by authorized municipalities 19 and social organizations, upon application, approved for the 20 purposes of this subsection. 21 (3) Estimates of amounts to be expended under this 22 subsection shall be submitted to the Governor by the Irish 23 Legislative Caucus of Pennsylvania for his approval. 24 (4) The State Treasurer shall not honor any requisition 25 for expenditures by the Irish Legislative Caucus of 26 Pennsylvania in excess of estimates approved by the Governor 27 or in excess of the amount available for the purposes for 28 which the requisition was made, whichever is the lesser 29 amount. 30 Section 3.
