        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 15, 2004

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 19, 2004, as "Rural Road Safety
     2     Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Agriculture is Pennsylvania's number one industry;
     4  and
     5     WHEREAS, Agriculture is dependent on the movement of farm
     6  equipment on rural roads in this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, Farm equipment travels at slower speeds than other
     8  traffic and is often wider than other vehicles; and
     9     WHEREAS, Operators of farm equipment are not always aware of
    10  their duties when operating those vehicles on roads; and


     1     WHEREAS, Many drivers are not aware of the possible presence
     2  of farm equipment on roads and the precautions that should be
     3  taken on roads occupied by farm equipment; and
     4     WHEREAS, The number of drivers on rural roads in this
     5  Commonwealth is increasing; and
     6     WHEREAS, It is the intent of the agricultural community to
     7  raise awareness of the use of farm equipment on roads; therefore
     8  be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    10  week of April 19, 2004, as "Rural Road Safety Week" in
    11  Pennsylvania.
