AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
3 municipal police jurisdiction in relation to certain boundary
4 highways.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 8952 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
9 § 8952. Primary municipal police jurisdiction.
10 (a) General rule.--Any duly employed municipal police
11 officer shall have the power and authority to enforce the laws
12 of this Commonwealth or otherwise perform the functions of that
13 office anywhere within his primary jurisdiction as to:
14 (1) Any offense which the officer views or otherwise has
15 probable cause to believe was committed within his
16 jurisdiction.
17 (2) Any other event that occurs within his primary
18 jurisdiction and which reasonably requires action on the part
1 of the police in order to preserve, protect or defend persons 2 or property or to otherwise maintain the peace and dignity of 3 this Commonwealth. 4 (b) Boundary highways.--The full width of any highway which 5 forms a boundary between two municipalities shall be deemed to 6 be within the jurisdiction of the police officers of both 7 municipalities. 8 Section 2.
