INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, FEBRUARY 9, 2010  

A RESOLUTION

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the seizure of the United

States hostages in Iran.

WHEREAS, On November 4, 1979, 52 United States citizens,

while serving our Nation, were taken into captivity and held

hostage by the Iranian Government; and

WHEREAS, These United States citizens were not released from

captivity until January 20, 1981, a period of 444 days; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate to honor the sacrifice and service

of the United States diplomats and military personnel who were

held hostage as well as the servicemen who lost their lives and

were wounded in a valiant attempt to free the United States

hostages; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the

30th anniversary of the seizure of the United States hostages in

Iran.
