        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 12, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 29, 2008, as "Dale Earnhardt Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt was born on
     4  April 29, 1951; and
     5     WHEREAS, With 76 victories during his career, including seven
     6  Winston Cup Championships, four IROC Championships, ten wins at
     7  Talladega Superspeedway and 34 wins at Daytona International
     8  Speedway, Dale Earnhardt was truly the face of NASCAR, inspiring
     9  fans throughout this Commonwealth and the nation with his skill
    10  on the track; and
    11     WHEREAS, Known as "The Intimidator," Dale Earnhardt at the
    12  wheel of the No. 3 car created a legacy in Pennsylvania amassing
    13  so many wins; and


     1     WHEREAS, Dale Earnhardt was a two-time winner of the
     2  Pennsylvania 500 and holds the Pocono Race career record for
     3  most races led; and
     4     WHEREAS, Dale Earnhardt changed the sport of racing, bridging
     5  past, present and future generations of fans by upholding the
     6  finest NASCAR traditions while remaining a cutting-edge
     7  competitor throughout his career; and
     8     WHEREAS, Dale Earnhardt's tragic death on February 18, 2001,
     9  deeply touched countless people, and this great icon of auto
    10  racing will be missed for generations to come; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
    12  29, 2008, as "Dale Earnhardt Day" in Pennsylvania.
