        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 28, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Celebrating Bloomsburg's Bicentennial (1802-2002).

     2     WHEREAS, In 1802 John Adams Eyer and Ludwig Eyer began
     3  selling lots in the area then known as Bloomsburg Township; and
     4     WHEREAS, After various portions of the township were taken to
     5  form other municipalities, the remainder was formally organized
     6  as the Town of Bloomsburg in 1870; and
     7     WHEREAS, Bloomsburg is the only incorporated town in this
     8  Commonwealth; and
     9     WHEREAS, Bloomsburg has approximately 12,000 residents and is
    10  the county seat of Columbia County; and
    11     WHEREAS, The campus of Bloomsburg University is located
    12  within the town's boundaries; and
    13     WHEREAS, The community is home to cultural and entertainment
    14  venues such as the Bloomsburg Fair, the Bloomsburg Theatre
    15  Ensemble and the Renaissance Jamboree; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives join with the
    17  incorporated Town of Bloomsburg in celebrating its 200th

     1  anniversary.
