                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, prohibiting the sale of gift
     3     certificates with expiration dates.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 7330.  Gift certificates.
     9     (a)  Offense.--Any person who sells or offers for sale any
    10  gift certificate to be used for the purchase of goods or
    11  services having an expiration date commits a summary offense.
    12     (b)  Definition.--As used in this section, the term "gift
    13  certificate" means any paper or document bearing a certain
    14  dollar amount or value, which was purchased for cash or other
    15  value or consideration.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
