                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
     2     "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
     3     sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
     4     consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
     5     increasing the amount that may be spent on burials BURIAL OR   <--
     6     CREMATION.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 2166 of the act of August 9, 1955
    10  (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, amended December
    11  22, 1965 (P.L.1162, No.456), is amended to read:
    12     Section 2166.  Provision for Burial OR CREMATION of            <--
    13  Dependents and Other Persons.--Except as otherwise provided by
    14  law, the county commissioners of counties of the fourth, fifth,
    15  sixth, seventh and eighth classes shall provide for the burial
    16  OR CREMATION of any person who dies in the county unless his      <--


     1  body is claimed by a relative by blood or marriage, or by a
     2  friend, or by his fraternal or veterans' organization, or by a
     3  charitable organization, or by the Anatomical Board of the State
     4  of Pennsylvania, and is buried OR CREMATED at the expense of      <--
     5  such relative, friend or organization. No such [burial shall      <--
     6  cost] PAYMENT SHALL EXCEED THE ACTUAL COST OF BURIAL OR           <--
     7  CREMATION NOR more than [three hundred dollars ($300)] nine
     8  hundred dollars ($900).
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
